GPS has broad manufacturing applicability in logistics and physical distribution, particularly as global supply chains lengthen and grow in complexity. Beyond that it has some interesting applications in the building of new factories which, while not mobile in a traditional sense, are certainly increasingly modular. The ability to track factory modules across a broad network of multiple smaller factory locations is certainly intriguing. Beyond that, unless there is some kind of dynamic need to monitor location, GPS is not used in manufacturing.
