There are many key add-ons that are necessary to keep an ERP system up and running. One way to consider add-ons is by business needs.
There are four main categories of ERP projects drivers based on business needs: regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, growth and strategic. In today's economic climate, most add-ons are focused on regulatory compliance and efficiency. For example, add-ons for food safety, lot traceability, product recall, returns, return merchandise authorization, Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), etc. are some of the ones that we see as key drivers.
On the efficiency front, we see add-ons for transportation management systems, warehouse management systems, point of sale and wholesale distribution order management as also key to creating efficiency in an area such as order management.
